How often do you have adoption events?

We have larger adoption events at least 2 times per year, usually in the spring and fall.

What days and hours can I volunteer?

We can use volunteer help any day or time during the week, just let us know what will work best for your schedule! For large adoption events see our outline below for event days and hours.

What are the hours for your larger adoption events?

Our large adoption events always start with site set up – usually on the Wednesday night from about 5:30PM to 9:00PM before the event weekend but sometimes on a Tuesday. On Thursday night there is mandatory volunteer registration from 6:30PM to 8:00PM for those volunteers who want to work the weekend of the event. On Friday before the event we welcome our rescues with their dogs traveling from out of state. They come in Friday between 9am and 3pm and we ALWAYS needs lots of hands to help comfort the dogs coming off of transport. The event weekend has different start times depending on your volunteer role. We are on site by 8:00am on Saturday until 6:00pm and you can come to help any time during the day. On Sunday we’re on site for the same hours although we stay later to clean up and move out!

How old do I have to be to volunteer?

You may be any age to volunteer as we have programs for all ages. Children ages 16 and younger must be on site with a parent or guardian unless enrolled in a particular program and then only with program coordinator permission.

How do I sign up to volunteer?

It’s really easy – just fill in our online volunteer form and someone will call you within a day or two. If you don’t hear from one of our volunteers please email info@godogdays.org and we’ll get back to you right away. Be patient, we’re all volunteers with full time jobs but we’re so happy to have your help!

What do I have to wear when I'm volunteering?

It depends on how you’re helping us. Coordinators wear all black polo shirts and different teams wear different color shirts. General volunteers wear orange shirts. You may buy shirts from us for $10 or wear an orange shirt of your own HOWEVER, it may not have ANY writing or graphics on the shirt front or back.

What if I can't volunteer all weekend?

Not a problem at all – you’ll be assigned to a team or a coordinator and just let them know the schedule that will work best for you. Remember you must attend the volunteer registration night the Thursday before the event weekend – that’s mandatory.

Can I volunteer before the event?

Absolutely – there is LOTS to do getting ready for the event. Just note on your volunteer form what you would like to do and when you have time to help.

Can I volunteer for the prison program, The Red Dog Project?

You certainly may – visit that page on this site for information and fill in the volunteer form at the beginning of this page. Note on your form that you would like to help with The Red Dog Project.

What kind of volunteers do you need?

You name it we need it – like to cook or bake? We need help feeding almost 100 people per day during event week. Engineer? Our site team would love your help. Good with computers? All of our record keeping is online so we could use your help there. Tell us what you’re good at or like to do and we’ll find a job for you!

Will you sign community service paperwork?

Absolutely – make sure you get the appropriate paperwork BEFORE the event and ask your team leader or coordinator to sign.

What is the schedule for the adoption events weekend?

Check on our “Volunteering” page under “Adoption Events” and you will find the event week schedule.

Should I bring a lunch to the adoption event weekend if I'm there all day?

Nope – we’ll feed you but if you have dietary restrictions then best to bring something to eat.

Can I help by fostering a dog?

Absolutely! We are always looking for fosters to help us with the dog – please email info@godogdays with FOSTER OFFER in the subject line and we’ll get right back to you!
