Find Adopters Save Dogs
WHAT DOES IT COST TO ADOPT A DOG OR PUPPY?
We don’t set any pricing for adoption fees nor do we take in money for adoptions. Each rescue or shelter at the event will have their own rules and pricing for their dogs. We do ask that they do not charge more than $385 per dog and we require that they do a home visit either before or after the adoption.
WHAT DOES THE FEE INCLUDE?
All dogs, except those from municipal pounds and their adoption fee is less) are spayed or neutered, have all age appropriate shots, have been dewormed, microchipped, groomed, treated for flea or heart worm when appropriate. They have been seen by two veterinarians with one week of the event and have also been evaluated by an on site trainer.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO ADOPT AT THE EVENT?
It will take between two and four hours to complete the adoption process at our events. You should bring all family members to the event to choose a companion. We have veterinarians, trainers, groomers, nutritionists and others on site to answer your questions and help you in the adoption process.
CAN I INTRODUCE MY DOG TO A DOG OR PUPPY I MAY WANT TO ADOPT?
Yes! Ask for help from a Ranger (volunteer assigned to the dog you want to adopt) and bring your dog from home to our “Meet and Greet” area.
WHAT IF MY DOG OR PUPPY IS SICK WHEN I GET HIM HOME?
Each rescue or pound at the event should give you clear instructions for how to contact them in the event of a problem. Please make sure you have this information before you leave the event site.
WHAT HAPPENS TO DOGS NOT ADOPTED AT THE EVENT?
All dogs and puppies at the event remain in foster homes or rescues until they’re adopted. None return to kill shelters. We try to find in state foster homes for out of state rescues so their dogs have a better chance of finding an adopter.
ARE ANY OF THE DOGS AT THE EVENT AGGRESSIVE?
We ask all rescues and pounds to sign an agreement which states their dogs are not aggressive toward people or other dogs. HOWEVER, many shelter dogs need at least two weeks to settle into their new surroundings and during that time it’s best to keep interaction with them at a minimum if they seem hesitant or fearful. Allow them time to decompress, don’t take them to new houses or introduce them to many new people until they’ve adjusted to their new home. Always call the rescue contact if you have questions.
